Hi! My name is Megan, and I’m glad that you’re here. 

I have experience working with a diverse range of children, including preschoolers, school-aged kids, and teens. I have a strong background in empowering kids and families in the aftermath of traumatic events. With a child-centered approach, I will meet your child where they are at and appreciate what makes your family unique. 

In therapy with me, your child can unlock new coping skills, avenues of self-expression, and ways of reconnecting with important people in their world (including you as their caregiver!). Because I practice a research-supported approach of learning through play, therapy sessions will be engaging, fun, and developmentally appropriate using a combination of talk and play. I will collaborate with you to ensure that your child’s therapy is individually tailored for their treatment needs and goals.

Before joining Pivot Point Counseling, I treated child survivors of abuse, neglect, and sex trafficking along with their non-offending family members at the University of Maryland Care Clinic. I received a strong foundation in providing trauma-focused therapy, enhancing children’s sense of safety, supporting the family unit, and utilizing case management skills to advocate for my clients. I felt inspired by the resilience of these kids and built meaningful connections with them, which reinforced their healing. 

I earned my Master’s Degree in Clinical Professional Counseling from Loyola University Maryland and my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Johns Hopkins University. In my spare time, I enjoy baking, walking my dog, listening to music, journaling, swimming, and birdwatching.

My therapy style incorporates play therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), and interpersonal process therapy. In-person sessions are highly recommended so that your child can fully engage in play and other therapeutic activities; however, depending on your needs, I can offer telehealth sessions for teens. I am licensed to provide counseling for kids and families in Maryland and am located at our Bel Air office.
